A Heart Attack, Lost Luggage & Jennifer Anniston Pt.2

Miami!
What is there to possibly do in Miami compared to an all inclusive Bahama cruise vacation?!?!? These were the words I kept saying to myself.
Shaking my head in disbelief that this had happened to us.
We left the airport in the middle of the night, taking our vouchers with us and seeking the next available cab ride. We sat in silence to the hotel that the airport had arranged for us. When the cab driver pulled up to the hotel my mouth dropped. WE were staying in one of the most expensive hotels in the business district of Miami!

Had our luck suddenly turned around? If you don't already know, we try to find the positive in everything. We had been through a lot and to sit around sulking over a missed honeymoon in the Bahamas would have made things worse. We took our things inside, found our room and spent the entire next three hours planning out our trip for the next four days. We planned restaurant and shopping visits, a mini casino cruise, hours spent at the beach, a trip to Miami Ink and so much more. As bad as the trip started we made the best of it and ended up having the time of our lives! We never got to experience that honeymoon Bahamas vacation but Miami had a lot to entertain us with! We even went strolling down the strip of outside shopping boutiqes and ran into Jennifer Anniston and Owen Wilson. They were filming Marley and Me! She is just as beautiful in person as she is on television!
(Side note: I ended up puking my guts out the entire two hour casino cruise, so maybe it was meant to be?)
God always has a plan even if it's not our plan!

Now I will leave you with pictures from our stay....
Before we realized we were never getting on that cruise line. Like.Ever.
Where were we?
Dazed and Confused, this had to be a dream. Right?

Can I have a suitcase this big with a whole new wardrobe please?
Ginormous!

We ended up driving down to Key West, the leaning trees, stunning!

Do you have a honeymoon story to tell?
Please share! I would love to see your post and/or comments!

A Heart Attack, Lost Luggage & Jennifer Aniston Pt.1

You might of read my title and wondered "what is she referring to?".
That my friends would be my honeymoon!
Today marks my five year wedding anniversary with my husband.
We plan on having dinner with our bridal party at Fujiamas tonight.
If you haven't had the pleasure of dining here let me give you a sneak peak of where I will be and what I will be devouring. Can you say the bomb.com?

Part 1 of 2: (This lengthy but worth it! I hope you stay until the end)
Our plans were made months and months in advance for a five day cruise to the Bahamas.
Ya know, kicking up our feet while waiters and waitresses pass out drinks, the gourmet meals are included and frequent stops are made on exotic islands.
Well this to my surprise ended up being the last thing we ended up doing for five days.

We booked our honeymoon, Sunday through Thursday. This would give us the next weekend to recover, unpack and relax before heading back to work Monday.
We packed our things up and headed to the airport, everything seemed to be going ever so smoothly. As my luck usually goes I should have known something was waiting for us in the horizon. We had booked a connecting flight around lunch time and had a two hour lay over. We thought YES perfect timing. We ate lunch, we stretched, we had our bathroom break (might I add that I despise public restrooms!). We had our down time and headed back to our gate. We waited almost two hours for our connecting flight to arrive when over the intercom we were told that our connecting flight had an emergency and to please stand by. Well, if you are like me panic starts to set in. What's happening? Will our flight that takes us to Miami to board our cruise have problems? I mean PANIC took over. I sat there in amazement that this was really happening.
The pilot along with the crew came through the door rolling a gurney with a man on it! He had a heart attack on the plane! They announced that they would need to clean the entire plane, restock the oxygen bags because apparently others were panicking and that it would be until further notice before we boarded our plane.
Almost an hour later our flight attendant came over the intercom announcing that we would NOT be boarding our initial connecting flight but needed to move to another gate and board the airplane there. Half a mile it seemed like that we walked to the other gate. We boarded the plane and took our seats. FINALLY we were ready to begin to our trip. I mean how much more drama and time can pass before we made it to our cruise? Ha only time would tell.
We made the trip in the plane okay, landed in Miami safely and made our way to the luggage pick up area. We had hours before our cruise was to dock and take us away to oblivion. No stress, just warm weather and plenty of activities planned ahead of us.
We sat at the luggage area for what seemed like hours (literally it was hours). No luggage arrived, no belts were moving, my second round of panicking set in. We had two hours to get our luggage, retrieve a cab and make it to our cruise line. Would we make it? Only time would tell.
We sat another hour waiting and wondering what was taking so long. An attendant finally came out and told us that our luggage had never been taken off of our original connecting flight and it would be at least a half hour before our luggage arrived. GREAT I thought to myself. Let's put ourselves on an even tighter time restraint. After staring at the still luggage for what seemed like years it finally began to move! We had exactly 15 minutes. Talk about an episode from The Amazing Race! We grabbed our luggage and made our way (running, literally running with three suitcases) down the sidewalk to the line of people standing waiting for the next cab. Basically hey take a number and wait your turn.
We finally made it to a cab, paid the guy a $20 and literally told him to drive like his life depended on it. He raced down the street and towards our cruise line. We had five minutes. We finally pulled up to the curb, went running up to the attendant at the dock and handed her our tickets.
The words that came out of her mouth next crushed my heart forever "I'm sorry your names have to be on the manifestation list at the exact time of boarding or we cannot let you on, you are two minutes late".
I sat there on top of all three luggage bags balling like a baby. We had no return flight home, no plan and no idea how we were going to make this honeymoon work. We had opted out of the insurance because we thought we had plenty of time. We had our wedding gift money from all of our friends and family and that's it. After many calls inside to the cruise line captain they rejected our tickets and sent us on our way. Everything was booked and paid for and they still wouldn't let us on. YAY us!
We got back into the cab not knowing what to do, we made phone calls to our families and went back to the airport. After 10.5 hours (no exaggeration) of complaining to a manager about the heart attack and the lost luggage we finally obtained hotel, rental car and food vouchers for a weeks stay in Miami......
to be continued...

Brain Dump Wednesday

Anyone who knows me has figured out that I am usually a stressed out worried mess.
I have a billion and one things on my mind and cannot keep track of them all!
Soooo when I read a couple of posts by Kate over at Classy Living about a brain dump.
I thought "genius idea"!

I always feel much better after I make a list, chart or graph of my to do items.
I like to write down subjects that are on my heart and mind as well.
So I figured, why not share my thoughts, ideas and plans with you?

*Holiday: Friday is mine and Tim's five year wedding anniversary. What does a heart attack, misplaced luggage, ten hours spent in the airport and Miami have in common? Look for that post Friday!

*Friends: I have a handful of girls who I can truly say are my real close bffs. I sometimes wonder why I never make it to anyone's profile picture or cover photo? What strikes that in a person to think as highly about you as you do them? I know this shouldn't matter but it has been on my mind.

*Blogging: Oh how I think about posts, ideas and questions 24/7. I know my lovely friend Chelsee is probably sick of my emailed list of random questions! Just knowing that I have fellow bloggers to lead me in the right direction is awesome!

*Shopping: I went shopping this past weekend and spent a little too much money. Why is it that I can't be happy for all the new bright colorful items purchased? Instead I feel a sense of guilt.

*Starbucks: I REALLY need to take a break from this little delicious coffee establishment. I go around three to four times a week, $4.65 each visit. Sometimes it is more. Especially when I decide to pick up a protein box or blueberry muffin! I could be saving so much money!

These are the main subjects that have been on my mind lately.
What has been stressing you out?
Do you have a running list of ideas/thoughts?
Join me with your brain dump!
I would love to hear what has been going on in your little section of the world!
I am already starting to feel better, it is amazing how awesome it feels when you get the little things out and into the open!
Happy Wednesday!

A Dedicated Hour #MomMeHour

On any given morning you can find me sitting in front my computer, drinking my cup of coffee while scrolling through my daily reads.
One of my favorites is Samantha. She blogs over at Hooah and Hiccups and has the cutest little baby boy!
I found myself reading this post and continued to agree, smile, say "yep that's me" and found motivation to follow in her foot steps.
She basically had the brilliant idea to put down all technology for one hour.
NO television, NO Internet and NO phone.
She is dedicating that one hour to her adorable little baby.
Whether it be through dancing, singing, crafts, napping or just laughing the hour away, it is all about quality time with her son.
She has named this MomMe Hour (Mommy and Me shortened)

So I accepted this challenge and put it to use!
An hour of love, quality time, laughing, undivided attention, fun and memorable moments!
We couldn't of been happier!

One of her favorite games to play
We are all set to play!
Who will be the winner?
Her reaction to my Yahtzee was priceless!
There's the proof!
Of course she is a future model, always posing!
Gotta get those sixes!
Come on Full House!
She is so dedicated
I would love to have read her mind!
She loves to draw in between rolls
I think that smile says it all
Would you like to join this challenge?
It would be great to see how many of us can make that special time for our loved ones!
Stories, pictures and the moments shared would be great to read about and see!
Share them with all of us on Instagram or Twitter under #MomMeHour!
You can also link up with the wonderful Samantha via her Twitter or Instagram. She will be compiling some of the pictures each week to feature in her recap!

It is very important to not let technology take control of our lives and time spent with family.
Every moment lasts but only a second but the memories last a lifetime!

Even if you don't have a child or children, maybe you need a break from technology?
Share with me how you spent your one hour of free time!
Nothing bad will come from this.
The emails, texts, tweets, notifications and calls can wait.
Family is the #1 priority in life.
Will you join us?
