Who Do You Sponsor?

I've been blogging for over a year now and there are still so many questions that have yet to be answered.

I've sponsored fellow bloggers, I've participated in giveaways, I've written long and short content and I've done my share of commenting and sharing.

What is missing is the traffic, the comments on my posts and the interaction from other bloggers.

I am not sure what the "normal" expectation is when you sponsor a blogger but it seems like I've been mislead more than a few times.
The promise to guide, help and connect you is made while in talk of sponsorship but then what happens? You guest post, participate in a giveaway and then just like that the month is up and you are back at the bottom of the totem pole.
Unless I'm missing something this has been my experience.

I look up to the "bigger" bloggers and would expect that they could understand where a newbie is coming from.
I guess I'm looking for a little more. Someone who can help enhance my writing, critique my blog page and not just offer a free spot on their page and then never once good a conversation.

So what do you do? How do you pick a great sponsor? Have you ever felt misguided?

If you are a blogger who has the time and who is willing to help invest more in a blog then just an ad space email me or leave a comment.
I would love to work with you and come away feeling like I gained something.

  1. You should check out Hooah and Hiccups...she did a post about her new sponsorship options and sound like something that might work for you (I personally have not sponsored her but just wanted to give you the head's up!) http://www.hooahandhiccups.com/2014/02/introducing-new-sponsor-options-lets-be.html

  2. I have definitely felt this way with bloggers. I sponsor someone who has 1 or 2 thousand followers and have barely any interaction with them, gaining only a couple followers. Now that Passionfruit is showing statistics, it's easy to see how many clicks you actually get from an ad, and sometimes it's shocking.

I can give you more details on the people I haven't had success with if you e-mail me :)

  3. I have felt this way on many occassions and from my own experience promoting bloggers on my blog, I find that it can be incredibly difficult to form relationships with bloggers after sponsorship that are incredibly different than your blog. That being said, I also think that you also get out of it what you put into it. I personally put a lot of effort into trying to get to know my sponsors. Sometimes it works out well and other times they just want you to give them shout outs and can't be bothered to return emails, tweets etc. I kind of feel like I will do what I can, but there comes a point where I can't put anymore effort than what I'm already doing into someone else's blog if they aren't willing to help me help them.
