We Are Dunzo...

via
It seems as if everyone under the sun has a Facebook page. We spend countless hours liking, posting, uploading and commenting, do we not? It has gotten to the point that most people feel like they will fall out of the social circle without it. When did Facebook replace real life phone calls and visits? If everyone knows what is going on in your life how will they ever have anything to talk to you about? I heard someone say the other day "it ends up on Facebook just as fast as it happened." Isn't that sad? There is no privacy. Everyone knows your business 24/7. It's like having people peep in your windows to see what is going on but they never come to the door and knock.

We roll over in the morning, grab our cell phone or laptop and post a status. We leave the house and check in at every place we visit. How about an upcoming event? Yep there is something for that too. When did we start replacing birthday cards with a birthday post to someone's wall and clicking like to show we care about something. I find it quite sad to have found myself in this category.

I had an awakening over the weekend and found that I was in a Facebook daze. I couldn't see how much time it was consuming, how much hurt and suffering it was causing and how much I didn't need it as bad as I wanted it. I was actually becoming quite tired of the "life" I was living through Facebook. On Facebook everything looks happy, glamorous and the best of times. Social media portrays that everything is quite perfect, there are no problems and that a certain person might have the "life to live." Facebook might show that someone is having the time of their lives, are happy in a relationship or by the number of "friends" have a ton of people in their life. Boy can this be very untrue.

I found myself at a crossroad and decided to take a break from Facebook for as long as possible. I will only use it to share pictures that I really want to share or to post info related to this blog. This is why I started my Facebook page in the first place. I didn't care about popularity or to be nosey in others lives. I didn't care to let everyone know where I am or what I'm doing next. I found myself in a Facebook routine and I didn't feel good about it.

I have friends and family and those who want to talk to me can visit or call. They are the ones who still send or give me birthday cards. They are the ones who still go out on shopping/lunch/dinner dates. The only people who I want on my "friends" list are the ones who make the effort outside of the Internet.
I have come to the point in my life where I realize that social media should be a luxury and not a necessity.

Calling All Fashionistas!

My buddy Kaitlyn over at Wifessionals had a brilliant idea regarding sponsors and giveaways. You can check out her post here. Basically instead of having you enter a giveaway, follow many many bloggers, their other social media sites and never really become friends with them. She decided why not do small prize pack giveaways from her sponsors. This gives you the chance based on your likes and personal interests to enter the giveaway of your choosing and create stronger closer relationships.

I am known in the blogosphere as a “fashionista” which puts a smile on my face! I love clothes, shoes, accessories and shopping is what I do best! One of my favorite designers is Kate Spade. Who doesn’t agree? So I have decided to give you my friend a chance to win a $25 Kate Spade gift card! With Spring in full force (okay in some states) I figured why not give you something to shop with? A gift card to purchase that new outfit you have been eyeballing, a new flashy necklace or a gift for someone special.

So enter the giveaway

and drop me a comment letting me know what you would purchase with your gift card and spread the word. The more the merrier!

Also, if you haven’t already, follow the beautiful and mommy to be Kaitlyn and the four other girls featured in this awesome prize pack giveaway! If you want some new found genuine buddies these girls are the ones to have!

Good luck!

All contests are open to US Residents only. Winners will be chosen at 12am Friday, April 5.

Weekend Shenanigans

What's a laptop, eggs, Easter and volcano nachos have in common?
Oh just some of my weekend shenanigans!

Friday:
I spent the night scheduling my blog posts so I could enjoy my Easter weekend with my family. Apparently my daughter wants to be the next future blogger?
I also acted as the Easter Bunny and put together Madison's Easter basket. Colorful and cute, I loved it!

Saturday:
I gained 20 lbs! At least I felt like I did. My new found favorite food and drink is Volcano Nachos and strawberry mango frozen drinks called "Don't Stop The Carnival" from Margaritaville. I was in a food coma for the rest of the day! Especially after I decided to buy a box of chocolates for myself!
We also decided to get all the eggs and eye dyeing kits out and dye some eggs! Madison had a blast using all of the different colors, markers and stickers decorating hers. Easter activities are so much fun!

Sunday:
I was woken up by Madison running into our room screaming and clapping her hands. You could say she was a little excited. I had covered the entire living room in plastic filled eggs and left her Monster High Easter bucket in the middle. She loved all of her gifts and opening each egg. The bad part was I forgot to put my memory card in the camera so I took all of the great shots without any of them being saved. I had to go back and stage the entire thing over and have Madison act as if she was re-opening everything. That's a laugh for the memory books!

Did anything happen to you this weekend that made you laugh over something silly?
