Who Do You Sponsor?

I've been blogging for over a year now and there are still so many questions that have yet to be answered.

I've sponsored fellow bloggers, I've participated in giveaways, I've written long and short content and I've done my share of commenting and sharing.

What is missing is the traffic, the comments on my posts and the interaction from other bloggers.

I am not sure what the "normal" expectation is when you sponsor a blogger but it seems like I've been mislead more than a few times.
The promise to guide, help and connect you is made while in talk of sponsorship but then what happens? You guest post, participate in a giveaway and then just like that the month is up and you are back at the bottom of the totem pole.
Unless I'm missing something this has been my experience.

I look up to the "bigger" bloggers and would expect that they could understand where a newbie is coming from.
I guess I'm looking for a little more. Someone who can help enhance my writing, critique my blog page and not just offer a free spot on their page and then never once good a conversation.

So what do you do? How do you pick a great sponsor? Have you ever felt misguided?
